Jervis Bay Triathlon Club is having an Open Day(Saturday 12, November 2016) at Iluka Beach, Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay for anyone interested in finding out more about the growing sport of triathlon and the support your local Tri Club can provide. Registration is open to anyone aged 12 or more regardless of current ability. Please note it is an introduction to triathlon, not a training session for experienced competitors.

Jervis Bay Triathlon Club Inc. (JBTC) Waiver – Open Day 2016

The JBTC Open day (the event) is designed to introduce participants to training for and competing in the sport of triathlon. Participants must be aware that all sporting activities have the potential for property loss, serious injury or even death from various causes including but are not limited to: accidents; the actions of other people; dehydration and weather conditions.  By signing this Waiver, participants:

  1. Accept and assume responsibility for any of the risks of participating in the event.
  2. Certify that I am physically fit enough to be able to participate in this event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical practitioner.
  3. Consent to receive medical treatment that may be deemed advisable in the event of injury accident, and/or illness during or after the event.
  4. Release all persons and/or legal entities associated directly or indirectly with the conduct of the event from all claims demands and proceedings arising out of participation.
  5. Indemnify such persons and/or legal entities against all liability (including liability for negligence) for all injury, loss or damage arising out of or connected with their participation in the event.
  6. Agree to my name and contact details being included on the JBTC database to enable information such as the club newsletter to be emailed to them.
  7. Understand that the event organisers may change the event format at their discretion. If that occurs, this agreement applies to the changed conditions.
  8. Certify that I have read this document and understand its content.

9:00 Welcome 9:15. What’s triathlon all about – what you need to get started, what you can expect etc. 9:45: Getting in the swim. How to position yourself at the start, what to expect followed by a basic practical session in the water. Starts, turning, what to do if you panic or get into trouble, how to sight, practice some run-outs etc. 10:45. Morning tea and brief talk on how to do your helmet up correctly, what TOs do and why, basic bike safety. 11:15am. Bike Basics. 12:15 pm. Transitions. How to set up, what not to do, where and how to mount your bike etc. 12:45 pm. Run basics, how to train for your first 3km or 5km triathlon run. Pitfalls, brick sessions etc. 1:30. Lunch + Q&A.
