A contingent of members of the Jervis Bay Triathlon Club and friends competed in the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 at Port Macquarie on the 5th of May. A great time was had by all who went up. The weather that was forecasted for race day turned up a day early which resulted in a dry but windy day.
Tibor qualified for Kona in October and Jon-Paul qualified for Nice in September. Rob Duffy used his race as a hitout before Ironman Cairns in June.
There were some family duels in the 70.3, spouses vs spouses and fathers vs sons. One father went beyond the call of duty as a dad and ended up needing an operation on the Friday morning before race day.
Special thanks go to Paddy O’Sullivan from Mortgage Choice and Rod Crouch from NKL Financial Planning for organising the special event trisuits. There was a flamboyance of flamingoes on the course which helped ease the pain during the race.
